HeLP GP FAQ

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions are shown in topical sections following. These are simple questions answered typically in 1-2 paragraphs.

Various

Q: Where do I download the HeLP GP Practice Client software from?
A: From the DCP HeLP GP Project Client Page: http://www.doctorscontrolpanel.com.au/help-trial-client.html

Q: Does the Client software need to be installed on the Server?
A: No. It only needs to be installed on to a computer on the network, which already has Best Practice or Medical Director already installed. Use Option 1 from the link above. You should not install it on the Server. (Exception: See Windows Terminal Server below.)

Q: Which is the best computer to install the client software on?
A: At least one of the Receptionist computers. Two is better in case one is not on or active. If there is no second Receptionist computer, install it on the Practice Manager’s computer.

Q: What do I do if I have a Windows Terminal Server (Remote Desktop Computing) installation?
A: At least one of the Receptionist’a login. Two is better in case one is not on or active. If there is only one Receptionist logged on at a time, install it on the Practice Manager’s profile too. Use Option 1 from the link above. (Option 2 is not necessary as we only want to make the application available to individual users not all login profiles on the Terminal Server.)

Q: Does having the Client Software and the DCP installed on the same computer (or anywhere in the Practice) have any synergistic benefit?
A: No.

Performance

Q: How long should it take initially to audit the data needed for the patient analysis to begin?
A: The audit data gathered by DCP should only take one hour. The delays you have been experiencing is because the Practice Client waits until the machine has been idle for 15 minutes before it will start the audit. Hence when the terminal is in high use, the audit will not start. Note: that when the audit starts, it will not be interrupted or stopped, i.e. once started, it will continue.

Q: When is the best time to start the data gathering?
A: Lunch periods or end of the day to ensure this occurs promptly, and only by one instance of the HeLP GP Practice Client running.

Q: Should I run more than one instance of the HeLP GP Practice Client initially to quicken the Data Gathering?
A: No. It could create unnecessary conflicts between the multiple clients which will be counterproductive to better performance.
